Let the jockeying begin for LeBron James. It should be interesting to see the media crush on Tuesday when the Cavs visit Madison Square Garden.
Walsh is a smart GM who is trying to clean up the mess Thomas left him. However, the season tickets holders for the next 2 years should sue the Knicks to get their money back. Trading your 2 top scorers and your leading rebounder is conceding that you aren't interested in winning any game. The fans who pay for tickets and come to games should have some hope of a home team victory (however remote even before the trade).
This was Dolan and Thomas's mess and they should bear the financial cost of this, not the fans.
Cleaning up after Thomas will not be easy but best to take your losses and start over. The alternative is to have a long drawn out process. The Knicks now have a solid GM and coach and these actions will provide a competative team sooner than later. The past management was a disgrace to a once proud franchise that will once again be a factor in the NBA.
New Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni needs the new players to mold into his fast-and-furious brand of roundball. If Stephon Marbury isn't part of the equation he'll be gone before long. LeBron would be pure icing on the cake should he opt to play for the Knicks.
D'Antoni was adequate here in PHX, but he didn't have scoring players he could consistently rely upon as his nemesis - S.A. Spurs - did. He'll do very well in the East if surrounded by hot shooters and solid defensive players.
